Coleman is founder and producing artistic director
of Alley Stage. As a playwright, he has adapted numerous
popular works for performance, including adaptations of A
Christmas Carol, A Child’s
Christmas in Wales, The Diary of William Stephens and more than 30 of Edgar Allen Poe’s short
stories. His full-length dark comedy Class was performed at Alley Stage in 2007,
and Faux Poe, six modern tales of the macabre, was presented in
2009. Coleman is a member of the Dramatists Guild of
America, Playwrights Ink of Madison. Trained in theatre at Cornell
University, he is also an accomplished director, actor and designer.
He was awarded a Literary Artist Fellowship in 2009 by the Wisconsin Arts
Board to aid in the completion of his book
Spokes in the Wheel.
For Alley Stage, Coleman has directed My Antonia and Red Moon
Rising in the East. In 2010 Coleman will direct You Have No
Idea.
Heather grew up
on the stage of the Mineral Point Opera House, and when it wasn't big
enough for her anymore, she studied theatre at UW Madison, before getting
a masters in arts criticism in London. Then she spent four years on
the west coast, working for theatre companies in Seattle and Santa Barbara
in various capacities, including script reviewer. In her spare time,
she is the group sales manager at the Overture Center in Madison.
Heather assists wth the select of plays for Alley Stage and in 2009
directed A Rose Colored Glass. She also acted in the 2009
Alley Stage production of Faux Poe, and the 2010 production of
Love Bites II. Heather is directing the 2010 production of
The Front Steps.
Andrew Sierszyn,
Technical Intern/Carpenter
This fall, Andrew will be a senior Theatre and Art student at
WisconsinLutheranCollege. He most
recently was scene designer for “The Curse of an Aching Heart.” When not
designing he considers himself a carpenter at heart. He is excited to be
spending his summer at Alley Stage.
Randy Tilk, Stage Manager/Tech
Director
Randy
Tilk of Madison received his BS in theatre design and technology at
Northwest Missouri State University in 2004 where he had
considerable experience in acting, directing, design, production and stage
management. Since graduating, he has worked as a production
assistant at American Players Theatre in Spring Green, and as a set
designer for the Darlington Children's Theatre. In 2007- 2010 Randy was stage manager for Children's
Theatre of Madison. This will be Randy's fourth season with Alley Stage.
Tiffany Fier, Set Designer
Tiffany Fier is a
free-lance set designer, scenic artist, and props artisan. She
graduated from Purdue with her MFA in scenic design. Also
recently she has designed the set for Iowa State University's production
of The Boys Next Door. She has worked with the Madison Repertory
Theatre and Opera for the Young. Every summer she returns to her
beloved American Players Theatre to work as scenic artist.
Tiffany is very excited to be designing for the Alley Stage for her
third season.
Nonda
Van Gulden, Costume Designer
This is
Nonda’s third season as costumer for Alley Stage. A familiar face around
town, she may often be found in one shop or another as her talents seem
to know no bound. Most often, she can be found helping at La Bella Vita
on Fountain Street.
