Alley Stage Receives National Recognition
The
Dramatist Guild Fund has honored Alley Stage with a 2010 grant, in
recognition of Alley Stage’s commitment to present new work by American
playwrights.
The Dramatists Guild of America was
established over eighty years ago, and is the only professional
association which advances the interests of playwrights, composers,
lyricists and librettists writing for
the living stage. The Guild has over 6,000 members nationwide, from
beginning writers to the most prominent authors represented on Broadway,
Off-Broadway and in regional theaters.
Alley Stage, now in its fourth year, is a non-Equity professional theatre
in Mineral Point, established by playwrights and for playwrights. In its
first three years, Alley Stage has premiered thirteen original full-length
plays, and ten original one-act plays. In 2010, Alley Stage will produce
six more original plays.
In making the award, Sue Drury,
administrator for the fund, wrote "Our committee of playwrights respects
your accomplishments and wishes you continued success with the important
work that you do for new playwrights and the theater in general."
